How to Unpack Efficiently After a Move? An AJ Moving Guide

When it comes to unpacking after a move, most of us dread it. With so many boxes to unpack, it’s natural to feel the burden. But there are ways to unpack efficiently. However, these ways will work best with hiring or consulting professional moving companies, as they have experience in moving and know how to unpack efficiently without breaking your valuables. So, let’s go through the best ways to unpack and settle down in your new home without ignoring its aesthetics and comfort.

Unpacking Strategy

Are you looking to unpack your stuff efficiently? Here is the strategy to unpack efficiently like a pro.

1. Walk through your new home

You may have visited your new home before signing the lease to get an idea of its layout. But this time, do a walk-through one to two days before shifting or moving. Get an idea of how you want to arrange your furniture and other belongings.

What to look for?

During the walk-through:

  • Check the walls and floors for any damages or things that need to be fixed.
  • Take pictures of each room so you can refer to them when unpacking.
  • Measure each room and note where the windows, outlets, and light switches are located.

Knowing these details will save you time and effort when you begin unpacking. It will let you know where to place furniture and where to hang your artwork and decorations.

2. Create a plan

As you walk through your new home, you now know what to pack for each room. The next step towards unpacking efficiently is to create a plan [1].

How to create a plan?

  • Start by taking an inventory of the items you moved. Write down where you want each item to go in your new home. With a plan on your side, you can unpack the room more efficiently and avoid cluttering.
  • Think about the layout of your new home. Consider how you want to arrange furniture and other oversized items to ensure that all of your belongings have a place.

3. Gather your packing materials

The more efficient you will be in packing, the more you will get during packing. So, make sure you have all of the materials you may need. This includes packing tape, scissors, bubble wrap, packing paper, and other materials you use to secure your items during the move.

Remember to label each box; otherwise, you will have to find stuff for each room. Also, if you feel overwhelmed, break down the process into manageable tasks by focusing on one room at a time. With the right supplies and a little planning, you’ll be able to unpack efficiently and settle into your new home in no time.

4. Hire professional moving companies

Suppose you love your crockery, furniture, or other stuff and want to unpack efficiently without breaking it. Then this step is crucial to include in your checklist.

What will you get after hiring professional moving companies?

There are many advantages to hiring professional moving companies when unpacking after a move.

  • Professional movers are experienced in packing and unpacking as well. They can save time by being more organized and efficient when unpacking and setting up your new home.
  • They can help you assemble furniture and do other tasks that might be too difficult for you to do on your own.
  • Most importantly, they can provide peace of mind by ensuring everything is safely unpacked and unloaded.

Tip for hiring: Consult with different moving companies within your region and get their quote for packing or unpacking. Then hire a mover that sounds more efficient. In this way, you can have a better option within your budget.

5. Start with the essentials

When unpacking after a move, starting with the essentials, you need to get settled in your new home is vital. This could include towels, dishware, and clothes. These items should be unloaded first to make yourself comfortable in your new space and settle in.

When unpacking, find a space for the essential items you need right away. Set up your bed so that you have somewhere to sleep at night. After this, put away the kitchen items you need to prepare meals and store food. Finally, pack the clothing items you will need in the next few days. Once you have the essentials unpacked, you can move on to other things and work on creating a home in your new space.

6. Work room by room

When unpacking after a move, one must take things one room at a time. This step will help you stay organized and make sure that everything is remembered. You can start with the room you use the most, such as your bedroom or kitchen [2]. Unpack one box at a time in each room and put items away as you go.

Tip: To make unpacking more accessible, try to unpack items that belong together, such as bedding sets and kitchen supplies.

7. Preferable un-packing strategy

While unpacking, it is essential to have a plan of attack. Start by taking a quick walk-through of your new home to get an overview and determine what needs to be done. Create a list of the rooms in your home, starting with the most important.

For example,

  • Start with the bathroom, as you want to avoid getting stuck in a bathroom waiting for toilet paper. So, Make sure you unpack all your toiletries and set up a primary cleaning station with items like toilet bowl cleaner, sponges, toilet paper, hand wash, etc. This will ensure you are ready for basic cleaning and maintenance right away.
  • Next, move on to the bedroom. Unpacking your bedding should be your priority in this room since you need a comfortable place to sleep or enjoy a coffee break. You will also want to ensure your clothes are hung up or stored away. A well-organized closet can also help you feel more at home in your new space.
  • The kitchen should come third on your list since it is one of the busiest areas in the house. Focus on setting up the essentials first, such as plates, cups, and utensils, and organizing your spices, canned goods, and other groceries. If you plan on doing any cooking or baking in your new home, make sure you unpack your pots, pans, and kitchen appliances.

After completing these three tasks, move on to other living areas, such as the living room and dining room. Unpacking furniture and decorating these spaces will add to the home’s overall aesthetic. Take your time and enjoy the process. Settling into a new home is an exciting experience; the more organized you are, the smoother the transition will be.

8. Have a coffee break

Moving to a new home and unpacking your stuff is exhausting work, and it’s essential to take some time to rest and refuel your body. After you have created a plan, gathered all your packing materials, and begun unpacking the essentials, take a break and treat yourself to a cup of coffee, or you can also offer some coffee to the movers. By doing this, you and they’ll feel more energized and ready to tackle the next task on your list! Also, a short break will allow you to review the progress you have made and make any adjustments, if necessary.

9.Take a deep breath

Congratulations! You made it through the move and are now in your new home. It may seem like a huge relief after all that hard work, but remember to take some time to enjoy your new surroundings. After all, you deserve it!

Take a few moments to admire how far you’ve come and all the changes you’ve made to make your home your own. From rearranging furniture to hanging up family photos, remember to bask in the accomplishment of creating a home just for you.

Finally, get settled into your new routine and start to feel at home in your new place. You may have some unfinished tasks, such as decorating or organizing, but take one step at a time and take your time. Before you know it, this place will feel like it has always been your home.

Conclusion

Moving is stressful, and unpacking can be even more daunting. However, you can unpack efficiently and save time with the right strategies and planning. Start by doing a walk-through of your new home, creating a plan, gathering your packing materials, and hiring professional moving companies if necessary. Then take your time, start with the essentials, and work room by room. Have a coffee break when needed, and enjoy your new home! By following these simple steps, you can make unpacking after a move much easier and less overwhelming.

10 Tips for a Smooth Office Relocation

Moving offices can be a stressful and time-consuming experience, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you’re a small business or a large corporation, these ten tips will cover everything from arranging for insurance coverage to setting up your new office space and minimizing downtime.

By following them, you can ensure that your office relocation is as stress-free as possible, so you can focus on what matters – keeping your business running. So, if you’re planning an office move, grab a pen and paper and get ready to take some notes.

Unlock the Secret for a Hassle-free Office Move

Moving your office can be a tiring process, especially if you’re doing it on your own. But with the help of professional office movers, you can make the transition smooth and efficient. These experienced professionals know how to quickly and safely transport your office belongings so that you can focus on other aspects of the relocation.

Here are ten tips to ensure your office move goes as smoothly as possible with the help of office movers.

 1. Schedule your move during off-peak hours

It is essential to schedule your office move during off-peak hours, as this will help ensure a smooth transition and minimize disruption. By scheduling your move during off-peak times, such as nights, weekends, and holidays, you can maximize efficiency while minimizing the impact on your business. Not only will this reduce the risk of disruption and downtime, but it can also save money by avoiding the higher cost associated with moving during peak times.

What to consider before scheduling:

When scheduling an office move during off-peak hours, consider planning ahead by reserving truck space and accounting for any extra costs associated with night or weekend moves. It would help if you also consider hiring professional movers to help manage the move.

2.  Notify your customers and suppliers in advance

Notifying your customers and suppliers[1] in advance of your office relocation may look unessential but is essential for maintaining a smooth transition. Without a  formal notification, your business could face a service disruption, resulting in potential losses in revenue.

By informing them in advance, you allow them to plan for any disruption in service or communication.

How to notify customers and suppliers?

You can send out an email or letter stating the date and time of your move and the new address of your office. Make sure your customer service team is prepared to answer any questions your customers may have. You can also inform your suppliers by posting a notice on their website and sending out notifications via email or social media.

Without proper notification, your business could face a service disruption, resulting in potential losses in revenue.

3. Hire professional office movers

When relocating an office, the best option is always to hire a professional office mover. Professional movers have the skills and experience to ensure your move is safe, secure, and completed with minimal disruption to your business operations. With their help, you can avoid significant delays or damage, saving you time and money.

Hiring professional office movers also offers other benefits such as inventory control, on-site supervision of the move, and assistance with packing and unloading. They are experienced in handling large equipment, and furniture often found in an office. In addition, they know how to move these items safely and securely.

On the other hand, if you try to handle an office move without the help of professionals, it can be a considerable challenge. Not only is there the risk of damaging your valuable items during the process, but there is also the potential for delays and disruption due to a lack of knowledge and expertise. Moreover, you could be liable for any resulting damages or losses if something goes wrong during the move. This can cost you dearly in terms of both time and money.

4. Purge your office of unwanted items

It’s important to purge your office of unwanted items before moving. Doing so will help you reduce the number of items that must be packed and moved, saving you money. It also saves you time because fewer items mean quicker packing and unpacking. And lastly, getting rid of unwanted items means you’ll have less to transport and unpack, which will help you stay organized and avoid being overwhelmed.

How to get rid of unwanted items:

Start by going through your office materials and assessing what needs to stay and what needs to go. Make sure you have plenty of boxes or garbage bags to sort the items into categories. Items that are broken, outdated, and no longer used should be discarded or recycled. You should also consider donating or selling items that can still be used. Finally, be sure to dispose of any hazardous materials properly.

5. Pack up your office carefully

Packing up your office is an essential part of the relocation process and is key to ensuring a smooth move [3]. It’s essential to take the time to pack up your office properly, as it will help reduce the risk of damage or loss during the move.Proper packing also helps prevent items from becoming lost during the move, so you don’t have to spend valuable time searching for them in your new office space.

6. Label all boxes clearly

Labeling all boxes is essential for a successful office move. By clearly labeling each box with its contents, you’ll be able to quickly and easily identify where things belong once you get to the new office space. This will save you a lot of time and energy, as you won’t need to waste precious hours searching for items that have been misplaced. Not only will this make your move more efficient, but it also helps reduce the risk of damage to items as you’ll know how they need to be handled when they are being moved.

Failing to label all boxes can lead to the incorrect placement of items, which could result in delays in the moving process

7. Arrange for adequate insurance coverage

This may sound like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many people skimp on insurance during an office move. But here’s the thing, accidents happen, and even the most meticulously planned move can be subject to unforeseen events. That’s why having adequate insurance coverage is crucial to protect yourself and your business from potential financial losses. With insurance, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your valuable office equipment and documents are covered in case of damage or loss during the move. And let’s not forget about potential liability issues—insurance can protect you from legal claims by third parties.

8. Set up your new office space before moving in

It can save you a ton of headaches and stress during your office move! Imagine moving into your new space only to find that you don’t have enough outlets for all your computers or that your office furniture doesn’t fit in the new layout. By setting up your new office space before you move in, you’ll be able to identify and address any potential issues before they become a problem. This means you’ll be able to plan and arrange the space to maximize productivity and efficiency and avoid delays or disruptions to your business operations.

Additionally, pre-setting up your new office space before moving in will also give your employees a sense of excitement and motivation, as they can get a sneak peek of where they will be working.

9. Update your company’s contact information

This might seem small, but it’s a big deal! When your company moves to a new location, you want to ensure that all your customers, clients, and business partners know how to find you. Updating your company’s contact information and address before you move is vital to ensure that all your communications are uninterrupted and your customers don’t end up calling or visiting the old office.

10. Have a plan for dealing with downtime

Nobody wants to hear the word “downtime” regarding their business operations, but let’s face it. It’s inevitable regarding office relocation. The key to minimizing downtime and keeping things running smoothly during your move is to have a plan in place. This means having a clear idea of what needs to be done, who is responsible for what, and when it needs to be done.

By having a plan for dealing with downtime [2], you’ll be able to minimize disruptions and ensure that your business can get back to the entire operation as soon as possible. Additionally, having a plan in place can help you identify potential problem areas before they happen and take steps to mitigate them.

On the other hand, not having a plan for dealing with downtime can lead to confusion and chaos. You may find yourself scrambling to get things done at the last minute, leading to costly mistakes and lost business.

Conclusion:

From arranging for insurance coverage to setting up your new office space and minimizing downtime, these tips cover all the essential elements of a successful office move. By planning and preparing, you’ll be able to minimize disruptions and ensure that your business can get back to the entire operation as soon as possible.

So, don’t let the thought of moving offices stress you out, keep these tips in mind, and you’ll be sure to have a smooth and successful office relocation. Happy moving!

A Checklist for Moving with Elderly Parents

Moving is never easy, but it can be tougher when you’re moving with elderly parents. The stress of packing up your life and theirs, preparing for the move, and settling into a new home can be overwhelming. Aging can cause physical and mental changes that require extra care during a move, making it all the more critical to plan.

Moving into a new place with elderly parents can be exciting and nerve-wracking. On the one hand, it’s thrilling to move into a new environment, spiced up by the added energy of having your elderly parents around too. While on the other hand, various challenges come with having elderly parents as your housemate. You need to make sure your space is safe for them. Family members must visit them frequently and your need to give more time due to extra errands or responsibilities.

Moving with elderly parents is not something impossible. The right strategy with proper planning can make the whole process smooth and hassle-free.

Before Moving Plans That You Need to Follow

We truly understand that moving with elderly parents can be daunting and stressful. Being well-prepared can help make the transition as smooth and successful as possible. Here is a checklist of things to consider before moving:

1. Find a Place that fits their needs

Moving can be a stressful experience if you haven’t taken the time to plan out the details beforehand. To ensure you’re prepared to find a place must be at the top of your list. It’s essential to take some time and research before choosing a place. Visit potential residences, investigate rents, see if any amenities are included or nearby, and scout out living conditions. [1]

Moreover, don’t forget to look into what type of lease and security deposits the landlord requires before signing the dotted line. Don’t look for a house with more stairs as your elder parents might find climbing up and down challenging daily.

With careful consideration and thoroughness, finding a suitable residence that fits your needs will provide a much smoother transition when packing up those boxes to move.

2. Maintain Realistic Expectations

Before you begin your move, it is essential to take some time to come up with realistic goals that you hope to achieve throughout the moving process.

As the saying goes, ‘hope for the best, plan for the worst ‘, when shifting an elderly parent into a new environment; anticipating potential issues and applying creative solutions can turn what would otherwise be a stressful experience into a smooth transition.

Planning will help keep everyone informed and organized as you work towards achieving your goals as an individual mover and as a family unit.

3. Set Up Utilities

Once you have the keys to your new home, establishing the necessary utilities should be top of the list. Depending on where you’re moving, the process for setting up essential utilities (e.g., electricity, gas, water) could vary.

If you are moving with elderly relatives, getting set up quickly is especially important; they may not be able to cope without access to basic amenities, including refrigeration and air conditioning.

To make life easier, take advantage of online services that can help you compare prices and sign a contract before moving, making things much smoother when you get there.

A Checklist for Moving with Elderly Parents

No one wants to be caught off guard or overwhelmed during a move. Having the right plan in place can help ensure that you’re well-prepared, and it will make sure your elderly parents are comfortable during the transition.

Here is a checklist of things you need to focus on while moving with elderly parents:

1. Taking Care Of Your Parents And Yourself

Stress is all about being overwhelmed and not having the right plan. Therefore, it’s essential to take extra time and attention to look after your parents emotionally and physically during a move.

Make sure to book doctor’s appointments for any checkups or vaccinations, buy first-aid kits for medical emergencies and create a safe environment with no trip hazards or loose cords. [2]

2. Organizing and Packing

Create an organized plan for your move, with milestones and deadlines so that you can stay on top. Make sure to assign tasks you can handle and delegate tasks that may be too difficult or time-consuming.

When it comes to packing, create a list of what needs to go where and how it should be packed; this will help make the process smoother and less stressful. Pack light to not put too much strain on your parents, and use durable boxes for added protection.

Label the box with its contents and color code it for easy identification. You can also assist the elderly parents in packing the essential items first.

3. Hire A Professional Moving Service

Hiring a professional moving service will help alleviate some of the stress associated with moving. Ensure you research and get references. Consider their insurance policies for any damages during transit.

Some all moving services are not offering elderly moving services, so make sure to ask. There are many beneficial reasons to hire them, such as extra hands to help with lifting, proper packing materials, and better organization skills.

4. Check Your Transport

Moving with elderly parents often requires special transportation. Check your transport before heading out and ensure you have the proper vehicle for transporting your belongings.

Choose a larger unit with comfortable seats and extra safety measures if possible. This will help make the journey smoother and more enjoyable for everyone. Or you can comfortably make the move with elderly parents in your own vehicle.

5. Pack Food and Water

When packing for the move, include some food and water for your elderly parents. You don’t want them to get hungry or thirsty during the moving process, so pack enough essentials to sustain them in an emergency.

Pack sandwiches, fruits, snacks, and drinks so they can remain energized during the move. Moving day is tiring, so you want to ensure they’re well-nourished.

FAQs

1. Is it good to move with elderly parents?

Moving with elderly parents can be a great way to show them love and support while providing them with the care they need. It can also make your life easier, as you won’t have to worry about making multiple trips back and forth between homes to check in on them or provide help. [3]

2. What if the move is long distance?

If the move is long-distance, it’s essential to take steps to ensure that your parents have a comfortable journey. Be sure to discuss their needs with them beforehand so you can plan accordingly: what kind of vehicle will they travel in, are there any special items they need or want to bring along, and so on.

3. What should I consider when packing?

Ensure your parents have the essentials, medicines, medications, and other vital documents. Be sure to include some comfort items, such as their favorite blanket or pillow.  Additionally, be aware of any dietary restrictions they may have so that you can bring meals and snacks that meet those requirements.

But, if you plan and prepare for it in advance, moving during the winter season can be easier than expected. Moving in winters is a great idea if you want to avoid the summer rush.

It can often be challenging to manage a move in the winter season. From potential plumbing or heating breakdowns to heavy snowfall, winters can bring many pitfalls for the unaware relocating family. However, with a few tips and tricks up your sleeve, you can avoid these common obstacles and make sure your move is an overall positive experience.

Moving in winters

Read on for top 10 tips for making a smooth transition into your new home during snowy weather seasons.

Moving in Winters | 10 Essential Tips

Are you confused about how to transition smoothly while moving in winters? We truly understand your concerns and are here to help. Here are the tips that will make your move easier:

1. Be Prepared To Be Flexible

The moving industry saw a downfall in 2021 [1] due to the global pandemic, but in 2022 it’s expected to be back on track. The winter weather can be unpredictable, and cold temperatures make it difficult to start packing. One of the most important tips for making a winter move successful is to be prepared to be flexible.

After all, Mother Nature has her plans and isn’t always kind when moving in colder months. For instance, blizzards or other severe winter conditions may put your schedule temporarily on hold, or you may have to contend with icy roads that cause delays or make certain routes impossible.

By staying flexible and being willing to adjust on the fly if needed, you can help make the entire experience less stressful.

2. Allow More Time

Your plan can be delayed due to snow, heavy traffic, and bad weather. That’s why it is important to start planning for your move a couple of weeks ahead.

It would help if you also built extra days for packing, moving, and unpacking so that you don’t have to rush when the temperatures drop. This will reduce the time spent outdoors during the move and make the entire process much smoother.

3. Pack and Unpack Your Clothes Wisely

When you move in winter, you must pack warm clothes correctly. When packing sweaters, jackets, and other thick items, try to fold them into zip-top bags before putting them into suitcases or boxes. This will keep them safe and protected from any moisture or cold air.

Also, try to unpack your winter clothes first to prepare for the chilly weather. Hang heavy sweaters, coats, hats, and scarves on hangers immediately to be ready when you need them.

4. Protect Your Belongings From the Cold

Cold weather can be hard on any material and cause damage, so it’s important to protect your belongings. Wrap all electronics, furniture, and other delicate items with plastic sheeting or blankets to keep them safe from the cold air.

Also, ensure that you have a designated space or room where you can store these items as soon as they are brought in. You can also get insurance coverage to protect your belongings [2] from any damage.

5. Prepare Your Car For the Cold

Your car is the most important part of any winter move. Make sure to get it serviced before you hit the road and check that all fluids are topped off, tires are inflated correctly, and brakes are in good condition.

Additionally, ensure that your vehicle has enough gas to reach your destination without worrying about running out. Long distances may require extra fuel, so plan accordingly and get extra gasoline in an emergency.

6. Make A Moving Checklist

A moving checklist is the most important tool for planning a successful move. It will help you keep organized and ensure that nothing gets forgotten or left behind.

Make sure to include all tasks related to packing, loading, travel, unloading, and more in your list so that you don’t miss anything while getting ready for the move. Sometimes, a person in charge of the move is required, so make sure to assign responsibility for all tasks on your list.

7. Make Sure Your New Home Is Ready

When moving in winter, it is important to ensure your new home is ready for you. Have the utilities turned on, change the locks if needed, and ensure that all appliances function correctly.

If any maintenance work is required before you move in, try to get it done ahead of time so that you don’t have to deal with it when you arrive.

8. Don’t Make Last-Minute Changes

Moving in colder months can be unpredictable, and anything can happen. To ensure your move is successful, avoid making any last-minute changes or unexpected stops as much as possible. If something requires you to switch gears suddenly, try to keep it to a minimum and only do it if necessary.

9. Stay Active And Tension-Free

Taking care of yourself and your family is just as important when moving in winter as in any other season. To keep your spirits up and to stay tension free during the move, take some time out of your day to exercise and relax.

What Items are Prohibited in the Moving Truck? – AJ Moving

When moving your home or workplace, a professional moving company like ours can save your life. Whether it’s snowing, raining, or sunny outside, our movers will pack every item you own, carry heavy furniture and boxes up and down stairs, and carefully load and unload the moving truck.

At AJ Moving Services, our professional packers can assist you through the simple, streamlined moving process. Unfortunately, some goods are not allowed to move because the law prohibits them for various reasons. Our moving movers know which objects are not authorised to be loaded on moving trucks for delivery.

In this article below, you’ll discover prohibited items that Lakewood and Colorado movers may not transport onto large moving vehicles. The prohibition could be for local, regional, and cross-country transport.

moving company

List of Prohibited Items for a Moving Company

The items you should not pack on a moving truck for local or long-distance moving firms are discussed below. You must properly dispose of these goods or carry them yourself rather than loading them aboard a commercial moving truck. Here are some of the very common items that are prohibited:

  • Flammable materials
  • Household chemicals
  • Expensive/irreplaceable household items
  • Explosive materials
  • Corrosive chemicals
  • Aerosols
  • Ammunition and guns
  • Cleansers containing bleach or ammonia
  • Fertiliser
  • Oil or gas of any sort
  • Pesticides and poisons

Items you should avoid to pack on a moving truck

If you are moving or planning to move, you should protect your most valued possessions, including food, plants, and other essential items. It would be best if you also took care of your personal belongings to prevent any losses on your personal property and ensure you carry them with you.

Tips for Safely Handling Hazardous Items

Hazardous items can cause fire by exploding or damaging what is packed into the truck. These items can ignite on their own, blast, burn, or otherwise damage the other items of the truck and everything in its vicinity. They may potentially endanger the lives of truck drivers, professional movers, and other vehicles.

Instead of trying to transport prohibited items on a local and interstate moving truck, safely recycle them. Take them to a legally accepted hazardous waste disposal facility.

If you have such items or need greater detail about hazardous items, talk to our professional movers at AJ Moving Services.

You Cannot Relocate Food with Professional Moving Company

Besides hazardous items, food is also prohibited from moving. Be it any food, movers cannot move it, especially if you’re moving far away. We recommend eating your leftovers from the fridge immediately if you are moving soon. Food may destroy many things and make a tremendous mess, even though it is not nearly as toxic as hazardous items.

We suggest placing the food items you want to relocate in a sizable cooler and driving them yourself. Another fantastic option is to donate the food to your neighbourhood food bank if you don’t want it to waste.

Homeowners must transport some essential household products by themselves. Here’s a list of items you should carry with yourself:

  • Personal documents
  • Cash
  • Credit/debit cards
  • Your home and car keys
  • Collections and artworks
  • Medicine
  • Family heirlooms
  • Jewellery
  • Electronics

Pets are Not Allowed in Moving Trucks

Did you know?

Pets are not allowed on mover’s moving trucks. You have to fly or drive with your pets or use a firm specialising in moving pets. In other words, no matter how much you’d like to, you will not be able to carry your beloved pet inside a moving truck on its way to your destination.

Pets are vulnerable to injuries and even can face dehydration, perhaps far worse. There are a few safe ways to transport your pets though. One of them is by transporting them in your vehicle. They’ll feel more at ease, and you may stop to let them out for quick walks to relieve themselves.

Can't Leave Your Plants Behind? Here's How to Move Them!

When using a local and interstate moving company, most people want to move their potted plants and other vegetation from their landscaping.

While AJ Moving Services understands that you want to keep these grown parts of your indoor and outdoor décor, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to pack them onto a moving truck. Plants cannot endure the heat and stress inflicted on them within moving vans.

If you are a resident, consider transporting your plants yourself, no matter where you relocate.

However, many states require that you keep your vegetation within their borders to prevent the spread of dangerous plant invaders. Lawmakers in these states work hard to safeguard agriculture and environmental security. Thus, if you’re moving from one place to another, it is generally best to take your green thumb along but leave the plants behind.

Conclusion

These are guidelines you should follow while packing your belongings .This guide has all the necessary information you need to know about what items a professional moving company cannot move.

Make sure you use a professional moving company to make the moving process easier and more effective. It saves you time and keeps your possessions safe. If you’re preparing to relocate, contact  AJ moving company and plan your move right away!

Moving with Pets: 8 Must-Try Tips for Success

You have booked your commercial movers. Your packing checklist is all set.

Your movers truck arrives in a few days for shifting. You are excited to move to your new place.

But wait..is that everything?

Or are you forgetting something?

Oh, Yes.

In all the moving excitement you forgot that moving with pets is a bit different than moving with your family alone.

Our pets take comfort in their own routines. They find it difficult adjusting with change and all the moving hassle.

But there are a few steps which you can take to make moving with pets as smooth as possible.

1. Make them familiar with packing supplies

Pets can have real problems when they find any unexpected activity at home.

When you are planning your move everything starts changing.

There are boxes in the whole house. Strangers are coming in and out to take away the furniture.

Instead of directly taking out a lot of boxes at the time of packing. Take out boxes a few days before. Put them in the corner of the house and let the pets sniff the smell and desensitise.

Also try to make them familiar with the sound of packing tape and moving furniture.

Moving with pets

2. Keep a routine while moving with pets

Avoid changing their daily routine during the move.

We all have our habits and pets can feel really uncomfortable when their routines are changed.

If they have a meal at a certain time of the day, keep the timings the same no matter how busy you are. Don’t pack away stuff that comforts your pets until the moving day.

3. Keep pets entertained

Give them the attention they require throughout the day. Do not leave them all by themselves because they are used to you being around them.

Avoid skipping walk days and play time. Adjust your schedule accordingly so they do not feel left out while moving to a new place.

Spend time cuddling and playing so that they know that their bond with you still remains the same even with the changing environment.

Moving with pets

4. Keep a secluded place for pets

Empty boxes, piles of clothes, your whole house looks like a mountain of clutter during a move. Between all this mess, keep a room or corner clean and organised for your pets.

Keep their toys and blanket somewhere away from all the noise and hustle so they do not get distrubed. But be sure to keep checking upon them from time to time.

If you have a small space and you cannot take out a secluded part of home for them during the move, it is ideal to keep them at a friend or family member’s place.

5. Get in touch with your vet

Inform your vet that you will be moving and take records of any prescriptions or medications needed.

Ask them if they can help you recommend any other vet in your new neighbourhood.

Check if all the vaccinations are up to date. Make sure you carry all the vaccination documents safely to the new place as well.

Make scanned copies of important documents of your pets as well, in case you lose original ones during the moves.

6. Do not take your pet out of vehicle until arrival

Do not take your pet outside until you have reached inside the new house. Since they are moving to a new neighbourhood these curious creatures can easily get lost.

Even if the pet is well behaved, do not let them outside the vehicle.

Let them transition in the new neighbourhood gradually.

7. Be informed about pet laws at new place

Do your research and check out all the pet related laws and regulations in your apartment or building.

If you have rented a place do not surprise the new owners about your pet on the day of move. Inform them beforehand so they have made up their minds and explained to you any rules they might have.

Make sure your pet is welcomed to any new place you would be moving to.

8. Pet-proof your new place before arrival

A new place can have unexpected windows, gates, doors, balconies and railings that you might have missed on your visits while doing a tour of the house.

Especially scan the whole house for any potential hazards for the pets.

Check all the toilet lids so pets don’t fall in them as they are used to their old bathrooms. Make sure all vents and AC ducts are closed.

Check for any poisonous plants in the backyard. Look out for any dangerous electrical cords and switches.

Conclusion

Your pet should feel homely in your new place. The transition process must be gradual for them to make themselves feel safe in the new environment.

Make them have small walks around the new house so they can sniff and recognize new smells.

Give them a lot of attention so they don’t feel that you have abandoned them.

Try to keep the routine regular and hire professional movers who can take care of your needs while moving with pets.
